School Visit eventWe will arrange for your students to visit Japanese schools to interact within and outside of the classroom environment with local students and teachers. The students will have a chance to participate in athletic and cultural activities. Homestay lodging allows the participants an opportunity to experience the culture of the Japanese host families in their private home.

Tokyo & Kamakura 9 Days Tour

Day 1: USA DEPARTURE

A Nippon Express Travel representative will meet the group at the airport to assist with check-in.

Depart New York JFK Airport for Tokyo Narita Airport on Delta Airlines # 173. The flight takes approximately 13 hours 40 minutes. As you cross the International Dateline, you will lose one day.

Day 2: JAPAN ARRIVAL

5:00PM

Arrive at Tokyo Narita International Airport. At Narita Airport, you will pass through immigration and customs. You will be met by an English-speaking guide and transfer to Shinagawa Prince Hotel by Airport Limousine Bus. Transfer to Hotel takes approximately one hour.

Day 3: TOKYO

Assemble in the lobby and for a full-day sightseeing tour of Tokyo by chartered coach with English-speaking guide. Popular sightseeing spots such as: Tokyo Tower, Imperial Palace Plaza and Asakusa. Lunch at Kaiten Sushi - Kaiten sushi is a sushi restaurant where the plates with the sushi are placed on a rotating conveyor belt that winds through the restaurant and moves past every table and counter seat. Enjoy this new way of eating Sushi! The tour will continue with a visit to the GHIBLI STUDIO in Mitaka (a Japanese Anime museum created by Hayao Miyazaki)

Back to the Hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5: KAMAKURA

Buffet Breakfast (Continental / Japanese) at your hotel. Hotel check-out. Leave your luggage at bell desk.

Assemble in the lobby for a walking tour of Kamakura. Take the JR train and local Enoden-line for Kamakura. Enjoy views of city of Kamakura and the sea from the Enoden train. Arrive at Kamakura Station. Visit the Great Buddha and Kotoku-in Temple, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Wakamiya Street, and Komachi Street (quaint shops and restaurants). Board the Yokosuka-Line for Shinagawa. Lunch at a local restaurant.

11:30AM

Arrive at Kamakura Station. Lunch at local restaurant.
The tour will continue and you will visit the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, the most important shrine in Kamakura. See Wakamiya-oji, famous for the hundreds of cheery trees that line it. On the way back, stop by Komachi-dori's many arts and crafts shops and tea shops.

Assemble in the lobby for a half-day "Yuba making" culture experience. Leave the hotel with English-speaking guide by chartered coach.
Yuba is a traditional healthy food made from soybeans. It is one of the ingredients of sho-jin meals, special vegetarian foods that priests eat. After making Yuba, it is time to eat it!

Return to the hotel. Free afternoon for your own activities (optional tours available, such as sightseeing in traditional crafts and architecture neighborhoods like Nishikidori Street and Machiya Street on foot)

Sukiyaki Dinner at one of the authentic Sukiyaki restaurants in Kyoto. Sukiyaki is a very poplar Japanese hot-pot dish. You can watch the process of making dinner at your table.

Day 5: NARA

Assemble in the lobby for a full-day sightseeing tour of Nara by chartered coach with English-speaking guide. You will visit famous sights in Nara such as Horyuji Temple, Todaiji Temple, and Nara Park. Lunch: European-Japanese style buffet.

Assemble in the lobby. Leave the hotel for Kyoto Handicraft Center.

Make your own craft. You will make a Kyoto traditional craft! Choose one of your favorite out of 9 kinds of options: cloisonné accessory, clay doll bell, spinning top, woodblock print, incense bag, Shichimi (7 kinds of Japanese spices) blending, folding fan painting, damascene accessory. Each experience takes 40-60 minutes. English instruction will be provided.

Board a Super Express train for Tokyo. For your lunch, try Ekiben! Ekiben is a Station Lunch Box. Many Japanese travelers find these Ekiben one of the main highlights of traveling.
